It was a beautiful day for a family photography session at Rocky River Park. It was 2 days before Thanksgiving and 60 degrees outside. The sun was shining so bright that I had to grab my ND filter to tone it down (a rare occurrence in Cleveland during the winter). I called Liesl to see if she wanted to move her family session to the one hour I had open in between appointments. The next day was looking like sleet, so it was going to be a studio session most likely. They had a rare opportunity at the end of November to do Anders’ first birthday session at the beach (the same place we did Matthias’s). Of course, they got ready to go and we headed out. It was such a gorgeous day. Like, Bob Ross painted the sky with lots of happy little clouds above the happy little trees. The kind of day that reminded you that being alive right here and right now is like winning the lottery. I mean… let’s face it. You could have been a parasite. The kids played on the beach, in the leaves and at the park. We ended the session with one of my favorite pictures that I have ever taken. EVER. You see… my good friend’s Mother passed not too long ago and this red bench sits under this beautiful tree in her memory at Rocky River Park. The bench reads, “Welcome all those who seek comfort, peace and time to reflect under the sun… and beyond.” Sometimes, it’s hard to remember to take the time for ourselves in our hectic schedules. As we welcome a new year, I wish all of you and your families peace and comfort and time to reflect under the sun. If you are having a hard time finding it, I can recommend a go spot nearby where all are welcome.
In loving Memory of Lois Nichols Nagy.
