If you need a good cry… watch this video all of the way through. I’m here to tell you that I was sobbing behind the camera. At times, you can see the camera shaking. I had just come from a tough day and things have been a challenge lately for my family. To be totally honest, I was already struggling and the last thing I wanted to do was lose my sh*% in front them. I walked into a room full of perspective. This is just a glimpse into childhood cancer.
I had first met Maja at the Man and Woman of the Year Event for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Fundraiser when I shot the video. She was being honored. Since then, Maja has needed to start treatment again and her Mother just gave birth to a little baby boy!! This film is just a few minutes captured of their lives. It’s a reminder that it is ok to feel scared, it is ok to feel sad, angry and it is always ok to feel joy.
Sometimes it’s hard to know the right thing to say or do for someone, but giving love and support is never wrong… even if it is in silence. There was an abundance of love in that room. An ABUNDANCE of love. In case you missed what I was filming… that was it. Stop what you are doing right now and send some love to someone that could use it this second. And, if you have kids… hold them a little tighter tonight.
